Singing in the festive season

3 December 2014

Christmas trees, twinkling lights and Westfield Presents Artists, The Hotsie Totsies, cheering travellers with their own harmonious 1940s take on your favourite Christmas tunes.

No, this was not your usual Monday at Waterloo station. This was a Westfield Christmas Before Christmas Monday and that meant the perfect start to the week for those who stopped, smiled, tapped their feet, filmed on their phones and walked away glowing with a Christmas feeling.

Some even nipped into the Westfield photo booth to get a picture of their Christmas cheer, with a selection flashing up on the giant screen with tweets from Londoners who have been voting for their favourite Christmas song.

So which Christmas song came out top? Well, the winner voted for by thousands of readers is... by an overwhelming majority... The Pogue’s hit, Fairytale of New York.

Along with all-time favourites, The Hotsie Totsies reminded Londoners that Christmas has already begun and the best bits – shopping for presents, meeting up with friends and catching a festive film as well as Santa at the grotto can all be found at Westfield London and West field Stratford City.

The audience view...

Gillian Till missed her train so she could stop and listen to The Hotsie Totsies singing “It was proving a stressful Monday until now, but this made my day”. While Helena Barnes, travelling through Waterloo with her children to see the South Bank festivities said “This made me feel festive for the first time – it is amazing what music can do to the soul.”
