Banker in court with wife over '£670,000 insider dealing'

11 April 2012

A City banker and his wife appeared in court today charged with a decade-long £670,000 insider dealing scam.

Christian Littlewood, 36, and his wife Angie, 39, of Belsize Park, face 13 counts of insider dealing and one of conspiracy to commit insider dealing.

The alleged offences relate to trading shares listed on the AIM between 2000 and last year.

Singaporean Helmy Omar Sa'aid, 33, appeared at City of Westminster magistrates' court charged with the offences last week. He was extradited to Britain from Mayotte, a French territory in the Comoros Islands, the first suspect the Financial Services Authority has brought extradition proceedings against.

Mr Littlewood was employed at Shore Capital at the time of his arrest last year, but until December 2008 worked as a corporate finance adviser at Dresdner Kleinwort, the investment arm of Dresdner Bank.

His wife, who does not work in finance, is from Singapore and is also known as Siew Yoon Lew. She moved to Britain in 1992 and the couple, who have three children, got married in November 2000.

They were bailed and will appear at Southwark crown court on June 28.
