Boeing set to win loan case

Boeing was today tipped for victory over claims that European governments illegally subsidised rival Airbus with $15 billion of loans.

A preliminary ruling at the World Trade Organisation tomorrow, the biggest in its 15-year history, is expected to find in favour of US aircraft maker Boeing over the loans that the UK, Spain, Germany and France provided Airbus over four decades.

"If it's a straightforward reading of the rules, the panel should find against Airbus," said former US Trade Representative Susan Schwab.
