Britvic sales juicier despite the weather

Bad weather affected sales in pubs, but otherwise soft-drinks giant Britvic is on the up.

The company recorded a 20% rise in first-quarter sales to £288 million, with Mountain Dew Energy drinks proving popular.

The group was helped by the acquisition of French business Fruite Entreprises, now known as Britvic France, for £198 million in May.

The shares edged up 7.7p to 456.5p as the City was reassured that the company would at least hit profit targets, although Britvic warned that the consumer environment remains "challenging".
