The maker of the addictive Candy Crush Saga intends to double its presence in London by moving into Facebook’s old offices in Covent Garden, it emerged today.
King Digital Entertainment — preparing for a $7.6 billion (£4.6 billion) float on the back of the success of the smartphone “crack cocaine” — is poised to take up 36,000 sq ft of space at Facebook’s Seven Dials Warehouse offices, Estates Gazette reports. King will also hang on to its existing offices at nearby Central Saint Giles.
Facebook signed a deal to relocate its West End offices to British Land’s 10 Brock Street last year, appointing agent DTZ to find a tenant for the space at Seven Dials.
The technology media and telecoms sector currently has the biggest thirst for space in a tightening London leasing market.
Even in the City, traditionally dominated by financial services, TMT took nearly a quarter of all space in the Square Mile last year.
Employment in the City is set to rise by more than 40,000 by 2023, requiring an extra five million sq ft of office space.
