Digital delight for Peppa distributor

Bringing home the bacon: cartoon pig Peppa is among Entertainment One’s stars

Entertainment One, the distribution company behind Peppa Pig and the film Twilight, is seeing revenues from digital formats such as downloads and online streaming accelerate, chief executive Darren Throop said today.

Group turnover from digital has doubled from around 7% to 15% in the year to March, and it is growing at a faster rate than a

year earlier. Throop said the advent of new online services such as LoveFilm and Netflix were boosting the value of E1’s rights and encouraging consumers to watch more as they have more choice on more devices.

“That choice is equating to more spend,” he said. Despite the wider market for DVDs shrinking, the latest instalment of the Twilight movie franchise, Breaking Dawn Part 1, has been the top-selling DVD so far in 2012.
