Dropbox to open office in London after creative sector boom

The US company claim that a quarter of internet users in the UK already use Dropbox

Dropbox, the American cloud-computing storage service that counts ex-US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice as a director, credited London’s booming creative sector for its decision today to open a UK office.

The company, which allows users to share documents and content and “synchronise” them between devices, said the UK is already its biggest market after the US.

“Creative industries is a sector that is super-strong for us in the UK,” said Johann Butting, Dropbox’s European head of sales, who claims that one quarter of UK internet users already use Dropbox.

US espionage whistleblower Edward Snowden this week raised privacy fears about Rice joining Dropbox.

Butting said: “The trust of our users is the most-important thing.”
