Pinewood Shepperton revenue boosted by Avengers

The upcoming return of Luke Skywalker, Iron Man and the Mad Hatter helped lift revenues at film studio owner Pinewood Shepperton.

The Buckinghamshire studio, which has recently played host to the filming of the latest instalments of the Star Wars, Avengers (with Scarlett Johansson, above, as Black Widow) and Alice in Wonderland franchises, today announced that revenues for the six months to end of September rose to £38.5 million, up £2.3 million from the same period a year earlier.

After-tax profits rose to £3.8 million from £3.4 million, as revenues from its film business rose more than 15% to £22.5 million.
