Long runs old shows lift Reach4

The seemingly endless number of tourists keen to see old shows in the West End is keeping the ad agency behind many of the billboards busy.

Reach4entertainment, the AIM-listed business that owns the Dewynters theatre marketing firm, says that Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables and We Will Rock You look set to keep bringing in audiences for sometime yet.

New shows such as Singin’ in the Rain and Chariots Of Fire are also doing well.

Reach4 was spun out of the old First Artist sports and marketing firm run by football agent Jon Smith. What’s left is Dewynters and its opposite number in New York, SpotCo.

Although the firm made a loss of £419,000 in the first half of the year, that’s 58% better than last time around. Revenues fell by £4.9 million to £34.3 million.

Finance director Shirley Stapleton said: “We have spent the last 18 months restructuring and stabilising the business. We have done all the heavy lifting and are now seeing the green shoots of recovery.”
