Mercedes and three dealers fined £2.6 million

Mercedes-Benz and three of its commercial vehicle dealers were today fined a total of £2.6 million by the competition regulator.

The Office of Fair Trading said it had spotted three breaches of competition law, including price co-ordination and the exchange of commercially sensitive information.

The case centres on the distribution of Mercedes-Benz trucks and vans in the north of England and parts of Wales and Scotland and resulted in a £1.5 million fine for company.

Ciceley, which has dealerships in Bolton, Blackburn, Carlisle and Dumfries, was fined £659,675 while Enza Motors of Warrington, Stoke and Manchester, and North Wales-based Road Range were fined £347,000 and £115,000 respectively.
