US media giant Omnicom is closing in on a vast new headquarters in London in one of the capital’s biggest lettings of the year, it emerged today.

Omnicom, whose proposed merger with French rival Publicis broke down this year, is looking to take 370,000 sq ft of space on a sublet from Royal Bank of Scotland at its 2 & 3 Bankside offices as the taxpayer-backed bank cuts back, said industry website CoStar.

Omnicom is understood to have settled on Bankside after a two-year hunt to consolidate properties dotted around the capital. It was unavailable for comment.

Meanwhile, US investor Perella Weinberg, which owns the City’s 1 Poultry, is to spend £204 million on Mayfair offices at 33 Grosvenor Place, said Estates Gazette.
