Probe into ‘big four’ accountants delayed

The Big Four accountants will have to wait until the end of the month to find out what measures the Competition Commission intends to impose to smash their alleged dominance of the audit market.

The long-running inquiry into PricewaterhouseCoopers, KPMG, Deloitte and Ernst & Young was due to publish recommendations on how to foster greater competition at the end of this week.

However, the Commission has been bogged down by its recent workload, such as launching a probe into payday loans.
