A rise in passenger numbers failed to ease the pressure on Brexit-battered easyJet today and its shares fell for a third-day running.

The budget airline, whose shares have plunged more than 30% since the EU referendum, said it flew almost seven million passengers last month, a 5.8% rise on a year earlier. The load factor — how full its planes are — ticked up to 94.1% from 92.7%.

Echoing rival Ryanair yesterday, it highlighted a 75% leap in cancellations in June because of strikes by French air traffic control and severe weather.

Its shares slipped 31p to 1025p and were among the biggest losers on the FTSE 100.

Last week easyJet warned on profits, claiming uncertainty over Brexit would hit revenue per seat in its crucial second half of the year.
