Estate agent Foxtons commits to electric vehicles

London estate agent Foxtons, known for its fleet of Mini Coopers, on Monday said it plans to switch its 850 cars to electric vehicles.

The firm mainly uses petrol and diesel-run cars to transport customers to home viewings, but will move to electric by 2030.

Chief executive Nic Budden said: “Businesses can contribute to the reduction of millions of tons of greenhouse gas emissions per year.”

His chain, which was founded in Notting Hill Gate in 1981 and now has over 50 branches, has become a member of the EV100 global initiative which aims to make zero-emission transport the “new normal”.

Budden said he supports the Mayor of London’s vision for expanding the capital’s EV-charging network. But, he asks “that this roll-out is accelerated so more businesses can make the switch sooner”.

Foxtons, which leases its fleet, is calling for greater transparency around future EV costs, including company car tax rates.
