Eurotunnel says blaze cost small

Eurotunnel chairman and chief executive Jacques Gounon today said the financial effects of yesterday's fire in the Channel Tunnel on the company that operates it would be limited.

He added that the group was covered by insurance against operating losses, and it was hoped that at least a limited service through the Tunnel could start today.

Eurotunnel shares fell another 20 cents today to 8.80.
