Gotcha! The former editor of The Sun, Dominic Mohan, has been hired as chief executive of The Outside Organisation, the celebrity publicists behind acts including The Who and David Bowie, the Evening Standard has learned.

In his first major job since leaving the tabloid in 2013 to work as a consultant for News Corporation, former showbiz journalist Mohan is to run the company as its PR guru founder Alan Edwards becomes chairman.

Mohan said: “I’ve known Alan for a long, long time. We sit next to each other at Arsenal and we’ve always talked about working together one day.

It’s going to be fun.”

Mohan led the Sun when it turned into a seven-day operation following the closure of the News of the World.

He was replaced by David Dinsmore, who is making way for Daily Mail deputy editor Tony Gallagher.

Edwards cut his teeth in the rock and roll world four decades ago.

He is credited with creating “brand Beckham”, having represented David Beckham since he was a teenager.
