Hammerson showed no signs of a Brexit hangover on Monday, as the shopping centres owner revealed a flurry of post-referendum lettings in London.

Boss David Atkins said trendy shoes brand Skechers, which has been modelled by TV presenter Kelly Brook, has agreed to open a shop at the Brent Cross centre, where Hammerson is a part owner.

Superdrug and The Perfume Shop have also signed in the four weeks since Britain voted to leave the bloc.

“We have not seen any major reduction in confidence from retailers in Britain since the vote,” Atkins added.

Rental income rose 5.1% to £167.7 million in the half year to June 30.

Developer Helical Bar also sounded a positive note, with outgoing chief executive Mike Slade noting strength in the capital: “We have been quietly encouraged by the continuation of both letting and transactional activity witnessed.”

Hammerson shares rose 4.5p to 550.5p, with Helical Bar up 3.25p to 264.25p.
