Loss at computer firm Psion slims

11 April 2012

Technology group Psion, creator of the Organiser pocket computer in the Eighties, today posted a narrower full-year pre-tax loss.

The company's 2009 results benefited from its £46 million of annual cost saving actions. Psion said more benefits would come through in 2010.

Pre-tax loss for the year to 31 December was £3 million, compared with £7.6 million last year. Revenue fell 15% to £170 million, hurt by the impact of foreign exchange movements.

Psion, which offloaded its consumer businesses to focus on rugged handheld computers for commercial use ranging from construction sites to courier services, said trading this year had started in line with its expectations.

It said the slight improvement in sales activity and order intake in the second half continued into this year.
