Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen ink deal to open Mayfair shop

Former TV child stars turned fashion designers Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are set to open their debut European shop in Mayfair.

Property sources said the sisters’ luxury clothing brand The Row, inspired by Savile Row’s tailoring skills, will land at 15 Carlos Place this summer.

Their first foray into Europe comes 13 years after the twins, 32, launched their label, which sells products such as £1,100 leather ankle boots and £1,160 cashmere sweaters.

Prior to founding The Row, the duo were child actresses in TV shows including Full House and Two Of A Kind.

Their fashion company has standalone shops in New York and California. Britons can buy the goods via fashion websites such as Matchesfashion or in department stores including Harrods.

The sisters spoke to Vogue about why they were planning to open in London. Mary-Kate said: “There’s still a craft in London. There’s authenticity; there are a lot of artisans.”

The Row’s London shop deal was agreed after property agent Colliers International sold the lease to the firm on behalf of art gallery Timothy Taylor, which is relocating to new premises.

Paul Souber, head of London retail at Colliers International said: “This is further evidence that luxury brands are not deterred by Brexit, and see London continuing to be one of the fashion capitals of the world providing a gateway to international and European shoppers.”
