Mixed messages on health of UK Plc

Conflicting signs about the UK economy emerged today as two surveys returned contrasting results.
The Purchasing Managers' Index for activity in the services industry reported new business growing at its fastest monthly rate since 2007.
But the Office of National Statistics said that in last year's third quarter corporate profitability slumped to its lowest level in more than eight years.
