New stand and hotel at cricket’s Brit Oval

The Brit Oval was today finally granted permission to build a new stand and hotel at the world-famous Test cricket ground after a drawn-out planning inquiry.

The new stand will increase the seating capacity of Surrey County Cricket Club's home to 25,000.

The four-star Arora International hotel will have 168 bedrooms. The £35 million project was held up because of its proximity to the Kennington Gasholder Station.
