Nikolay Storonsky

Russian-born Nikolay Storonsky knows what it takes to dive in head-first and win a race. Having been a champion swimmer while at school, he set up Revolut, the cutting-edge financial app in 2014. The former trader at Credit Suisse and Lehman brothers knows a thing or two about managing risk and is renowned for being a demanding boss, who has questioned the benefit of a work/life balance when trying to a start-up off the ground.

Based in Canary Wharf, the company has been at the centre of controversy surrounding its long-hours and investment bank style working culture. It has also been hit by delays in securing a full UK banking licence, running one from Lithuania instead.
