24 September 2013

Sports Stars Media, the company behind cartoon Mourinho and the Special Ones, narrowed its losses during the first half of the year.

The group said a trailer for the animated series featuring the Chelsea manager had been screened on the CBBC Match of The Day Kickabout programme and reached 130,000 views on YouTube in its first five days. It said it had also raised €875,000 through an issue of new shares to develop an online football league game endorsed by Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo, which will be launched next month.

Its pre-tax loss fell from €243,000 to €238,000. Chief executive Ruben Dias said: “In the past 18 months the group was able to develop a solid and comprehensive Mourinho and the Special Ones product line that was successfully launched in the first territory [Portugal]. We now have an immense revenue opportunity for worldwide expansion.”
