Online luxury fashion giant Yoox Net-A-Porter will not let Brexit get in the way of expansion, its boss said as he unveiled plans to hire 200 more people in London.

Federico Marchetti said the etailer will go on a hiring spree for tech talent as it targets a 20% increase in sales each year under his four-year plan.

The etailer, which stocks high-end brands including Burberry and House of Holland, was born from the merger of Italy’s Yoox and upmarket rival Net-A-Porter in 2015.

The latter’s founder Natalie Massenet left shortly before the tie.

Marchetti told staff: “I’d like to reassure you that even if Brexit has some impact on the growth of our sales, Yoox Net-A-Porter is on an irresistible course to grow sustainably as customers of luxury fashion are increasingly purchasing online.”

He added: "We have ambitious plans to grow faster than the online luxury market by leading through mobile."

The plans include a new fine jewellery and watches division.

It will also increase its presence in the Middle East and China.
