Today, as 50 orphans arrive in London, Britons are asking themselves what they can do to help the people of Ukraine. The artist Idris Khan’s response has been to make a piece of work to raise money for the victims.

As part of the Evening Standard’s Ukraine Appeal, Khan has created I Thought We Had More Time…, which will be sold in a timed edition. The piece features the colours of the Ukrainian flag, watercoloured over collaged music paper.

Khan revealed that he created the work in “one of those moments of coming into studio, grabbing things in front of you and seeing what you can make”. The piece will be available for £300 from Migrate Art’s website for the next 10 days, beginning from today.

All profits will go to our Ukraine Appeal, which has raised over £100,000 in funds for the Disasters Emergency Committee. For more information visit: migrateart.com/products/idriskhan

Get your booster

The latest significant increase in Covid cases in the capital is a reminder, should one be needed, that this pandemic is not over.

That is why, as the second booster shot is being rolled out in England, it is vital that those eligible come forward to get theirs. At present, that includes the over-75s, residents in care homes and those with weakened immune systems.

About one in 18 Londoners is estimated to have Covid — above the national average. But the vaccines provide the best protection against hospitalisation and death. So don’t delay.
