Boris Johnson today rejected a proposal to tax sugary and salty foods while prescribing vegetables on the NHS.
The plan was put forward by Henry Dimbleby, who said action was needed for the public to break the “junk food cycle”.
The Prime Minister, however, said he was “not attracted” to the idea of extra taxes “on hard working people”.
But even if the plans were put into place, do you think that taxing sugary and salty food would transform our diets? Or is it a misguided policy attempting to solve a more complex problem?

Some were positive about the continuing rules. FutureSoundOfLondon said: “Definitely welcome it. It is essential for getting London’s economy moving again.”
Others felt the opposite. CyclingLondoner said: “Very much against mandatory masks in any setting. It needs to be individual choice. I fear they are here forever now.”
Acrombile, meanwhile, fell somewhere down the middle: “Boris had the right balance,in donning one on busy trains,but not on quiet trains where it could be just you and one other in a carriage and would like all train operators to keep to Boris` spirit in all this.”
