Power of three: the Palace says the Duchess of Cambridge is expecting her third child

I was delighted to hear that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are expecting a third child. I know William and Kate are two genuinely lovely people and great parents.

I am, however, sick and tired of people criticising them for simply wanting to have another child, saying it is an unwanted burden on the taxpayer. They may lead different lives to us but they have just as much of a right to a family as anyone else.

It is time people showed the royals and their children some respect.

The announcement that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are expecting a third child was in one way depressing — it means we will once again see the BBC’s royal correspondent Nicholas Witchell filling our TV screens.

Please give him his knighthood now and let him seek the anonymity he richly deserves.
