Brexit is coming closer — and I am finding it hard not to say: “I told you so.”
Checks on borders, inflated costs, decreased trade, a potential upsurge in immigration from other countries, increased travel insurance — I can’t help but think that it’s going to be an absolute muddle just like our handling of coronavirus.
Most people who voted for Remain are probably prepared for this as they saw it coming. However, I hope those who voted for Brexit don’t get too anxious.

It’s tempting to gloat — but that won’t help anyone. The end of the transition will just leave each side more convinced than ever that it is right.
Hard Brexiteers will blame the EU, and coronavirus, for all that goes wrong. Remainers will blame Brexit. History will judge — meanwhile we’ll just have to cope with whatever comes next.

How to bring back shoppers
Central London is forlorn at the moment. But a simple measure will bring shoppers back: reverse the decision to extend the congestion charge to 10pm seven days a week, so people can drive in on summer evenings and weekends without having to pay £15 a journey. These were popular times before lockdown and I’m sure the changes have generated little or no extra income.

Covid is no time for jokes, Boris
Can someone please point out to Boris Johnson that more than 45,000 people have died from coronavirus in the UK and that making “jokes” about Sir Keir Starmer having “more briefs than Calvin Klein” is not funny.
