When punk first burst onto the scene in the UK in 1976, music journalist John Ingham was on the front line of the subculture, documenting the bands and people that were championing the movement.

Struck by the music, fashion and 'anything goes' spirit, Ingham began snapping fly-on-the-wall photographs of the likes of Sid Vicious and Johnny Rotten.

Now, 41 years later, his rare and unseen photographs of the movements early days form a new book, called Spirit Of 76 London Punk Eyewitness.

A champion of the scene, Ingham documented the Sex Pistols for a year, conducted the first interview with them and even bailed Sid Vicious out of jail.

The book features never before seen reportage of bands such as The Clash and The Damned, showcasing the punk movement from its most anarchic, raucous beginnings

This is a rare opportunity for fans of the young acts to get their hands on the first colour photographs of punk's leading men.

Spirit of 76: London Punk Eyewitness is available in bookstores and online from Anthology Editions.
