Tom Stade Totally Rocks!, Pleasance Courtyard - review

Nothing is staid about Stade as he rallies through gender differences and marriage with razor sharp wit, making this familiar terrain feel absolutely boxfresh
9 August 2012

Canada’s Tom Stade is a chilled rock ’n’ and roll comedian with a gentle drawl and traditional wild streak.

His show, starting with wobbly footage of his 1995 Vegas wedding, is inspired by his enduring marriage. This is familiar terrain — gender differences, how parenthood upends perspectives — but this yarnspinner is such a seasoned pair of hands it feels boxfresh.

Nothing is staid about Stade. If Foster’s had a Comedian’s Comedian Award he’d be hot favourite.
