A lot of people are about to see British screen legend Sir Michael Caine as they have never seen him before.

The double Oscar winner, who rose to fame in the1960s playing womaniser Alfie, is to appear as Batman's butler, Alfred.

Sir Michael, 70, completed a multi-million-pound deal with Hollywood studio bosses at the weekend to appear in Batman 5, which is due to start filming in February.

He will star alongside Welsh heart-throb Christian Bale, who will play the caped crusader.

'We are delighted to get Sir Michael. He's ideal for this role,' said an insider at Warner Bros, which will make the movie. British character actor Michael Gough has played Alfred in the four previous films.
