Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa - watch the new trailer

Aha! North Norfolk Digital's most famous DJ turns action hero in Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa.

Fans of Steve Coogan's hapless radio DJ have been given a first look of this summer's big screen outing in a new trailer.

Coogan has described the film as a cross between Network and Dog Day Afternoon.

In the movie, when Alan’s radio station is taken over by a new media conglomerate, it sets in motion a chain of events which see Alan having to work with the police to defuse a potentially violent siege.

Will Alan talk round disgruntled colleague Pat Farrell (played by Colm Meaney)? Will there be shots fired in anger? Will Alan become a public hero or simply another footnote in the history of broadcasting?

Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa has been written by Coogan, Armando Iannucci, Neil Gibbons and Rob Gibbons.

I'm Alan Partridge regulars Lynn (Felicity Montagu), Geordie handyman Michael (Simon Greenall) and DJ Dave Clifton (Phil Cornwell) will also star in the film, which opens in cinemas on August 7.
