Berry attacks Hollywood 'racists'

10 April 2012

Actress Halle Berry has launched a stinging attack on racism in Hollywood.

The 35-year-old star - currently working on the new James Bond movie - said she was enraged by the attitude of some film-makers.

'What's hardest to swallow is when there is a love story, say, with a high-profile male star and there's no reason I can't play the part. They say, "Oh, we love Halle, we just don't want to go black with this part". 'It enrages me that those are racist statements but the people saying them don't think they are. I've had it said right to my face.'

She added she was turned down for a role as a park ranger in the John Woo film Broken Arrow because a studio executive decreed there was no such thing as a black park ranger.
