Jan Schmidt-Garre’s film explains to us that, though yoga was originated by Lord Shiva according to Indian tradition, the modern version practised today was the creation of Indian savant T Krishnamacharya in the early 20th century. Its source is at the palace of the Maharaja of Mysore and various yoga masters gave the Sun salutation, the headstand and the lifesaving session to the world. Interviews and rare historical footage make the film more intriguing than you might suppose.
