Briton to direct Potter

A Briton will direct the fourth Harry Potter film, it was has been revealed.

Mike Newell will take charge of Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire, the latest in the hit series about author JK Rowling's boy wizard. Newell, who made Four Weddings And A Funeral, said he was very excited about shooting the adventures of Harry and his pals from Hogwarts.

'As audiences have become more familiar with the books and the movies, there has been an increasing challenge to continue to develop each of these characters and to make their world real on screen,' he added. Warner Bros said production would begin in England next April, with the film's release expected in late 2005.

The first two Potter movies broke boxoffice records world-wide. The third, Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban, is currently being shot in England and Scotland.
