Bruce takes on 'Net nerds'

He has died hard, died harder and died hard with a vengeance. So as Bruce Willis gets into his 50s, you would think he would be happy to not die at all.

But criminals beware - crazy cop John McClane is coming back to the big screen. Having successfully tackled German radicals and ex-army mercenaries, McClane is set to face his biggest challenge yet - Internet nerds.

Action fans around the world are dizzy at the prospect of Die Hard 4, which took a step further towards becoming reality yesterday.

Len Wiseman, the director behind the Underworld movies, is in talks to shoot the next instalment in the series for 20th Century Fox.

The fourth film centres on McClane coming out of retirement to take on an Internet terrorist organisation. It is believed the movie will be made in time for release next summer.

A screenplay has been written, which at one point was titled Die Hard 4.0.

The three previous Die Hard movies grossed £575 million worldwide. Willis said he needed to shed some flab to film the role which made him a Hollywood star.

He admitted he had put on 'a bit of weight' since the original movie in 1988, and he didn't want to embarrass himself with a 'flabby physique' this time round.

'I need to get in shape, I need to work out,' he said. 'There is a high chance it will be out next summer - we're in the final stages of getting it all together.'

Speaking at the Cannes Film Festival, he added: 'We're as close as we've ever got to getting Die Hard 4 started. It won't be called Die Hard 4 but that will be the story.'
