The first trailer for the highly-anticipated sequel Bill and Ted Face the Music has been revealed, with Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter returning to their classic roles for the first time in 29 years.
The duo set off on another journey through time in the clip, searching for inspiration after being tasked with writing a song that will reunite the world and "save reality as we know it".
The pair are seen attempting to ‘steal the song’ from their future selves in the trailer before encountering very different muscle-bound versions of themselves in prison.
Bill and Ted, slackers with a passion for metal music, first appeared in the cult comedy Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure back in 1989, before returning for Bill & Ted’s Bogus Adventure in 1991.
Anticipation has been rising ever since the new film was announced in 2018. Reeves and Winter have teamed up with Galaxy Quest’s Dean Parisot for the sequel, with a script written by original creators Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon.
Samara Weaving, Brigette Lundy-Paine, Jayma Mays, William Sadler, Hal Landon Jr, Kristen Schaal, Holland Taylor and Kid Cudi also appear in the new film.
Back when the film was announced, Reeves and Winter said: “We couldn’t be more excited to get the whole band back together again.
“Chris and Ed wrote an amazing script, and with Dean at the helm, we’ve got a dream team!”
The film is currently due to be released on August 21, 2020. Until then, be excellent to each other and party on dudes.
