Forget Me Not fails to catch hold properly

London love: Tobias Menzies and Genevieve O’Reilly play star-crossed lovers in Forget Me Not
10 April 2012

Tobias Menzies and Genevieve O'Reilly play star-crossed lovers in this low-budget British film directed by Alexander Holt and Lance Roehrig's and set mostly in London.

He is a down-on-his-luck musician contemplating suicide. She works in a bar and rather fancies him. When he walks her home after a drunk has attacked her they talk until it looks like something might blossom, but she thinks she's probably just another of his would-be conquests and he can't convince her she's not.

As well as the actors play, everything depends on the screenplay, and Mark Underwood's writing doesn't quite swing it. What results is a slight drama that fails to catch hold properly, as if there's a lot unsaid and too much drifting emotional stasis.
