Heche gives birth to little Homer

10 April 2012

Film actress Anne Heche, the former lesbian lover of comedienne Ellen DeGeneres, has given birth to a boy called Homer.

Her son was born in Los Angeles and weighed 7lb.

Heche, 32, married cameraman Coley Laffoon, 27, last year after the end of her three-year relation-ship with DeGeneres.

They met while making a documentary about DeGeneres' return to stand-up comedy. The comedian made TV history by playing an openly gay character on comedy show Ellen.

During their relationship, Heche and DeGeneres wore wedding rings and campaigned for same-sex marriages. They broke up two years ago and DeGeneres, 44, blamed the pressure of being watched 'like we were the only lesbians on the planet'.

Heche suffered a mental breakdown following the split. She was taken to hospital after being found partly clothed near a farmhouse in California.

The star, who has appeared in movies such as Gus Van Sant's Psycho and Six Days Seven Nights, is set to appear opposite Christina Ricci in the forthcoming adaptation of Elizabeth Wurtzel's Prozac Nation.
