“I can deal with all my fears and anxieties in my work. That’s why I don’t need a psychiatrist,” says the multi-awarded Austrian director Michael Haneke in Yves Montmayer’s cautiously fascinating examination of the man and his films. Haneke admits he is a control freak and can act the terrorist with his casts.

“He has fun. We don’t. We are very afraid and tense,” says Emmanuelle Riva, octogenarian star of Amour (released on DVD this week). Clips of Haneke at work and of the many controversial films themselves make this an intriguing 70 minutes, if a slightly scary one, particularly when he laughs.
