Murder in suburban Australia

10 April 2012

Paul Goldman's Australian film, written by the controversial Alice Bell, stars Emily Barclay as Katrina, a 19-year-old single mother who is suspected of either killing or persuading one of her many lovers to kill her father. Brother Danny is already in jail for murder, but the police can't pin anything on her.

The portrait Goldman and Bell paint of Australian suburbia includes documentarylike statements from those involved.

We never discover exactly what happened, but when a neighbour finally says of the family, "You can't get clean water from a dirty tank", you know exactly what she means.
