Nightmare coming true in Food, Inc

10 April 2012

If we are what we eat, there's not a lot of hope for us, according to Robert Kenner's formidable documentary.

Made in America, it tells how most of the food we consume is produced by a small number of giant corporations whose methods are unfair to both farmers and animals and introduce deadly bacteria into the food chain.

The result is a flood of cheap and often unhealthy food, and huge profits for big business and its powerful lobbyists.

We have it in our own hands to change this, Kenner says - but it is obvious that the poorer you are, the less this is so.

By the end, you feel you've been very close to a nightmare but one that's actually coming true.
