One of Hitchcock's greats: Notorious

Hitchcock’s ninth Hollywood thriller has Ingrid Bergman as a young beauty determined to atone for her jailed father’s treason.

She faces two men who love her: Cary Grant’s government agent who is torn between lust and distrust, and Claude Rains’ older lover who knows he might not get her.

More of a bleak romance than a thriller, this is certainly one of Hitch’s best from the Forties and an intriguing precursor to the great Vertigo.
