School-boy humour fails to raise a smile in Grown Ups

10 April 2012

Despite some passable gags and a whole posse of middle-aged funnymen, Denis Dugan’s comedy is about the least grown-up movie you could see.

Adam Sandler, Rob Schneider, Kevin James and Chris Rock are among the old classmates who arrive on holiday with their wives and girlfriends and fail to prove that they have developed since school.

The film glories in their japes, particularly of the lavatorial variety, which murders laughter at its source. Doesn’t help that it’s a mess from beginning to end.
