Palworld’s future updates will add crossplay and player vs player (PvP) to the survival adventure game, developer Pocket Pair has announced.

Specifically, Xbox and Steam players will be able to play Palworld together, and even duke it out with their pals in tow.

The Japanese firm behind the breakout hit revealed in a tweet its roadmap for the game, including the bugs it plans to fix immediately and changes set to take place.

Catching its breath after Palworld’s record-breaking run, the developer said its priority was to fix the game’s critical issues. We already know that some players are struggling to load the game, largely due to the massive amount of people playing at once.

For now, disabling multiplayer can resolve the problem, but it sounds like Pocket Pair has a better solution planned. The company said that as a result of the planned patches, the game’s world date may experience rollbacks and the loading screen may persist when trying to enter worlds.

It will soon also enhance the AI of pals put to work at your base and make key configuration improvements. Pocket Pair mentioned “pathing” in the tweet, a technical term that could indicate pals will get better at finding their way around your homestead.

However, the best updates are slated for the future — although exactly when remains a mystery. New islands, pals, bosses and technologies are all on the cards. A pal arena will also enable PvP battles between the game’s cuddly critters, so get ready to see Pokémon Stadium or Pokémon Unite comparisons on social media.

In addition, players can expect raid bosses as part of end-game content, various Xbox feature improvements, server transfers and migrations, and improvements to the building system.

For a title by a relatively unknown indie developer, Palworld stunned the gaming world by selling more than seven million copies in just five days. Yesterday (January 23), it hit a new peak of 1.85 million simultaneous players on the video games marketplace Steam. The milestone involved it climbing to second place on the most played games chart, behind PUBG with 3.25 million players.

At the same time, an update was released for the Xbox and Microsoft PC versions of the game that addressed some of its glitches. Now, Pocket Pair appears to be assuring players that this wasn’t a one-off or a fad by promising fresh content for the foreseeable future.
