In order to make up for the cancellation of E3 this year, multiple gaming studios are now looking to host their own digital showcases this summer.

Ubisoft has revealed its version will be called held in July and will be called Ubisoft Forward. The company promises the event will showcase "exclusive game news, reveals and more."

Given that E3 takes place in June, other studios are planning their showcases to take place at a similar time. However, Ubisoft Forward will start at 8 pm BST on July 12, much later than the other studios.

The company has already unveiled what is probably its biggest hit this year, which is, of course, Assassin's Creed Valhalla, so perhaps there will be some totally fresh IPs coming from the studio during the presentation.

Ubisoft also has other franchises including Far Cry and the Tom Clancy shooter games under its belt, so maybe we can expect some news regarding these titles.

For those of you who would like to hold on to hope, there have been whispers of another Prince of Persia, another of Ubi's IPs, which seemingly died a quiet death a long time ago. Is now the time for its revival?

The Ubisoft Forward showcase was announced on Twitter by the official Ubisoft account, and fans have been quick to try and read more into any potential teasers contained in the short video.

Examining the background of the video above, people are desperate to try and see if this is pointing towards a certain reveal.

It seems likely, however, that the trailer contains no information as to what might be shown at Ubisoft Forward, and that the footage in the video is simply generic b-roll for this purpose.

E3 was supposed to take place between June 9 - 11 in LA, but it was cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak.

For those missing E3 this year, a new online digital games festival named Guerilla Collective will take place on June 8. The festival will host fresh announcements, trailers, gameplay and more from some of the hottest developers and publishers around the world.
