Gilbert & George unveil terror art

Chilling: the Gilbert & George work comprises six pictures featuring the artists and Standard billboards

This is art duo Gilbert & George's take on terror attacks ... with a little help from the Evening Standard.

The pair, who have been shocking the art world for four decades, today unveiled Six Bomb Pictures, which they say is their most chilling work to date.

It comprises a 14-metre triptych entitled Bomb and five other pictures entitled Bombs; Bomber; Bombers; Bombing; and Terror.

The pictures are drawn from 136 Standard billboards which the artists have been collecting for two years.

The art is less offensive and more reflective than some previous work.

Gilbert & George said: "We believe that as artists we were able to bring something special in thoughts and feelings to this subject."

Gilbert & George: Major Exhibition opens at Tate Modern on 15 February and runs until 7 May.
