A Bloomsbury photography exhibition with artwork from women who have suffered from mental ill-health aims to raise awareness around the power of creativity.

Girl Behind the Lens: Stories of Mental Health and Empowerment comes to the Horse Hospital on April 27, showing the work of young female photographers from around the world.

The exhibition is in support of WomanToWoman, a social enterprise founded by Emmy Brunner, which focuses on uniting women suffering from eating disorders, trauma and related mental health issues.

All photographs have been created by women with experience of mental illness themselves or inspired by the stories of those who have. Linda Blacker, Kimbra Audley, Emily Garthwaite and Alice Joiner are among those exhibiting.

Prints from the exhibition will go on sale to raise money for an eating eating disorder peer support group for women who are unable to access or fund their own treatment, and a women’s refugee psychotherapy group run by a trained, multi-lingual psychotherapist.
