Australian comedian Hannah Gadsby’s show Douglas is set to be released on Netflix next month.

The show, which is the follow-up to global hit Nanette, will be available to stream from May 26.

Gadbsy toured with Douglas – named after her dog – last year, performing at the Southbank Centre for two nights in October.

In his five star review, Evening Standard comedy critic Bruce Dessau called Douglas “a masterpiece of a show”, adding that “if she has not topped Nanette, its sequel certainly matches its brilliance”.

She won the Edinburgh Comedy Award in 2017 for Nanette, which she said was her exit from the comedy world but ended up becoming a global success. The show overturned the conventions of stand-up comedy, and many described it as a genre-defining piece of work.

Nanette is still available to stream on Netflix.
