Wizkid, Little Simz, Davido and Popcaan are among the latest wave of acts to be announced for Portugal’s Afro Nation 2023 festival.

Other artists already confirmed to hit the stage include Burna Boy, 50 Cent, Asake, Booba, Aya Nakamura, Fireboy DML, Tayc and more.

The world’s biggest Afro beats festival will return to Portimão’s coast this summer from June 28 to 30, celebrating the best in Afrobeats, reggae, dancehall, hip-hop, amapiano, soca and other black-led musical genres.

The announcement follows the news of Afro Nation’s debut US show in Miami this May, which will feature Burna Boy, WizKid, Rema, Asake, Beanie Man and more. The shows follow the second edition of Afro Nation Ghana in 2022.

Tickets for Afro Nation’s flagship show will go on sale this Thursday.

When is Afro Nation Portugal 2023?

Afro Nation Portugal 2023 will take place from June 28 to 30 on Praia Da Rocha Beach, Portimão, the Algarve.

Praia Da Rocha is one of the most popular beaches in the Algarve and is about an hour’s drive from Faro airport.

Who is performing at Afro Nation?

This year’s Afro Nation festival will feature an impressive array of artists, including Nigerian giant Burna Boy, US hip-hop royalty 50 Cent, and French-Senegalese rapper Booba.

Continuing the trend of Nigerian talent, this year’s biggest breakthrough Asake brings his vibrant brand of Lagos street pop to Portimão, following Fireboy DML’s chart success with smash-hit Peru and a subsequent remix collaboration with Ed Sheeran.

New talent Ayra Starr will also grace the stage for her Afro Nation debut. Her Afro-soul style and intoxicating voice have often been found on tracks with Wizkid.
